With the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, educational institutions, businesses, companies and organizations, everything suffered shut down. Lives came to a standstill with no income flowing. When businesses were shut and the market was closed, everyone's livelihood was affected badly. The pathetic plight of people involved in blue and grey-collar jobs needs no special mention. They lost their jobs and were left with no option but to walk back to their hometowns. According to "Betterplace", more than 10 lakh blue-collar jobs were affected due to the pandemic. Everyone empathized with those who lost their means of bread but one teenager decided to do something about it. While others are busy working from homes and learning from their living rooms, this 17-year-old boy thought of up-skilling those who take up blue and grey-collar jobs. Let's know about Ahaan Aggarwal and his brainchild that has been helping all the unfortunate losers of the job get their work.

Ahaan Aggarwal is a 17-year-old boy who is pursuing his IB and High School Diploma from the American Embassy School in New Delhi. The seriousness of the lives of people involved in blue and grey-collar jobs after losing their work made Ahaan anxious. He couldn't imagine how their survival goes without jobs. Moreover, even if the market is opened again, their skills and abilities need quick brush-up so they can be ready to take up their jobs immediately. Also, going from one place to the other in search of jobs is not possible going forward unlike earlier. India is home to a large percentage of unskilled workers. Thus Ahaan decided to create an accessible job market by providing better training to all the grey-collar job seekers and also to give them the ability to find opportunities in a better and easier way. To achieve this, he developed a platform called Junoon to help the unfortunate workers. He started working on it in April, finished and launched it in August 2020.

Junoon - The Unskilled Workers' Boon:

Junoon is a simple, easy-to-use, instruction-based online vocational training and job search platform whose prime focus is on blue-collar and grey-collar jobs. This platform helps the unskilled and semi-skilled workers acquire and sharpen their career-specific skills thus helping them to become better qualified and up-skilled. With a long-term goal of providing required job opportunities, Junoon works to bridge the gap between workers and the job-givers. The vision of Junoon is to enable economic independence.

In The Days To Come:

What started as a 10-member team on a contractual basis to take care of the product, research work, content and video creation is on plans to expand its team to head different departments post-fund-raising. Through Junoon, Ahaan is planning to introduce skill assessment tests based on gender, age, knowledge, and language proficiency, which will help candidates zero in on a sector, taking location and wages in consideration too. The company is planning to introduce KYC verification, background and reference checks for blue-collared workers in order to help the employment partners and make their job easier. Going forward, Ahaan plans to launch community college programmes in nearly 10,000 villages that were already identified during their research. Having received a lot of support from the individuals, corporates and government bodies, Ahaan wants to welcome more people and organizations to work with them.
