Planning to buy an expensive saree for an event? Check this saree library before you hit a mall!

Heard about libraries with books but ever heard of a library that has clothes, especially sarees? While attending events like weddings is an inevitable part of our lives, wearing gorgeous outfits that glorify our appearance is beyond doubt, a necessity. However, buying expensive clothing just for one-time happening and then storing it in the lockers is what most of the women do. On the other hand, not everyone can afford buying costly and grand clothes. To bridge this gap, there emerged 'saree library' that rents sarees to all those who want to shine in events without shedding too many pennies.

Ashta Saheli, an independent community association initiated a walk-in facility for women irrespective of income backgrounds, from where they can rent three sarees at once for a nominal fee. Hema Chauhan, a 59-year-old joined with eight of her friends and started this initiative in June 2020. Ashta Saheli library offers a collection of more than 400 sarees, ranging from Kanjivaram silk, Banarsee, Kota checks, Bandhani to chiffon and georgette, including 30 chanya cholis and 60 other ethnic dresses like palazzos, lehengas and blouses. The borrowings at the library solely depend on the foundations of faith.  The team is also in plans to offer purses, jewellery and footwear alongside clothes.

By the way, let me tell you where it is located. It's at Malhar Point on the city’s Old Padra Road in Vadodara, Gujarat. So, why late Vadodarites? Grab this opportunity!
